But he waved good-bye,

雪だるまは陽気で、ハッピーなやつ
とうもろこしとボタンで出来た鼻
炭で出来た二つの目
雪だるまは雪から作られていて
それはおとぎ話に過ぎないと大人は言うけれど
子供達は知っている
どうやって雪だるまに命が吹き込まれるかを
古いシルクハットには何か魔法があるに違いない
それを頭にのせたとたん、雪だるまが踊りだしたんだ
雪だるまは一生懸命に生きてる
子供達は彼が、君や僕と同じように
笑ったり、遊んだりできると言う
雪だるまはその日、お日様が暑いことを知っていた
そこで彼は言った 「さあ走って一緒に遊ぼう、僕がとける前に」
魔法のほうきを手に持ち、村におりてきて
「つかまえられるなら捕まえてみな」って言いながら
広場をあちこち走り回る
子供達を街の通りまで連れて行き
交通整理のおまわりさんに出くわした
おまわりさんが「Stop!」と叫んだ時しか
雪だるまは立ち止まらなかった
雪だるまは先を急がねばなりませんでした
手を振りながら彼は言いました
「泣かないで。又いつかきっと戻ってくるから。」
